It is always a good idea to look after your own health. We are now living longer than ever, but not necessarily healthier. With an aging population there is an increasing burden of chronic disease. A chronic disease is a long-term health condition that requires ongoing medical attention and/or limits daily activities. Common examples include heart disease, diabetes, and arthritis.
Chronic disease has overtaken infectious disease as the leading cause of death worldwide. However, chronic disease is often caused by potentially modifiable lifestyle factors. This means we have an opportunity to adjust our lifestyle behaviours now, reaping the rewards of healthier behaviours both now and in the future.
Lifestyle medicine looks at the lifestyle related factors of chronic disease and addresses them. Éistim Coaching combines lifestyle medicine with both positive psychology and coaching to enable clients to use their strengths to modify their health behaviour in a sustainable way. In this way, Éistim Coaching seeks to address both the health behaviours recommended by lifestyle medicine and the mindset needed to implement them.

Positive Psychology
Positive Psychology is the scientific study of what helps people thrive. Instead of focusing only on what’s wrong or what needs to be fixed, positive psychology explores the factors that support wellbeing, resilience, meaning and fulfilment. It’s not about “positive thinking” or ignoring difficulties. Instead, it’s about understanding and strengthening the psychological skills and resources that help people cope, grow and flourish.
Coaching
Coaching is a supportive, collaborative, future-focused process that helps you create meaningful change in your health, work or life. It offers a dedicated space to pause, reflect and gain clarity.
Rather than being told what to do, the coach acts as your "thinking partner".

Hello and welcome.
I’m Shauna Garvey, a positive health coach and mentor. I am passionate about supporting clients to improve their healthspan, in a realistic way. My hope for you is that you live a long, healthy and happy life.
There is so much noise out there on what we "should" all be doing from a health perspective, it can be totally overwhelming (not to mention making us feel rubbish about ourselves for not meeting those "shoulds").
Im here to help!
I've spent a lot of time at University studying science at UCD (pharmacology, physiology, psychology ), then completing PhD in pharmacology at Cambridge University (focusing on some of the neuroscience of feeding), then law at BPP (and practised as a lawyer for about 10 years in the IP and pharma field), and then I went back and qualified as a coach (Cambridge University again!), and then finally did a masters in positive health coaching (RCSI). So, I know what Im talking about! I'm also a wife and a mum of three kids (and a dog owner) so I know how busy life can be! I can support you in cutting through the noise and making the changes that help you nudge your healthspan in a positive direction.
